Holiday Gift Making Class

This year I decided to try offering a Holiday Gift Making Class. It seems each year I am scrambling to find small gifts for teachers, bus drivers, co-workers and the many other people that touch our lives each day. I like to try to make the gift something meaningful or unique as I'm sure teacher's can attest, they don't need any more apple items!

I also wanted to make the gift class something fun, so I decided to offer several projects and include lunch. Being here in Minnesota, you can't have a winter lunch without Wild Rice Soup. The class will be Saturday, December 1st from 10 am - 2pm, cost is $30 and includes a soup and salad lunch, bread, and dessert. If you are in the Twin Cities Metro area and would like to join us, please email me, we would love to have you!

This is one of the projects we will making. It features Stampin Up!'s Designer Series Paper. The Designer Series Paper is on special for the month of November. Purchase 3 packages at regular price ($9.95) and receive a 4th package free!

The ornament uses the Dashing paper and the scallop punch. To make the ornament, punch out 8 scallops, a piece of gold or silver cord long enough to hand on the tree, and some beads are needed. Thread a couple of beads onto the cord first (these will be the beads on top). Fold your first scallop and using adhesive stick the cord to the fold (don't worry as you add more scallops it will hold the cord in!). Add some adhesive one of the folded sides and line up your next scallop. I found it easiest to wait until I had lined it up and stuck it down before I folded it. Otherwise I didn't always make the fold correctly and I ended up with some of my vertical stripes a little off. Keep going until you've attached all 8 scallops. Thread on some additional beads if desired, tie a knot and you're done!
