Holiday Gift Making Class

This year I decided to try offering a Holiday Gift Making Class. It seems each year I am scrambling to find small gifts for teachers, bus drivers, co-workers and the many other people that touch our lives each day. I like to try to make the gift something meaningful or unique as I'm sure teacher's can attest, they don't need any more apple items!

I also wanted to make the gift class something fun, so I decided to offer several projects and include lunch. Being here in Minnesota, you can't have a winter lunch without Wild Rice Soup. The class will be Saturday, December 1st from 10 am - 2pm, cost is $30 and includes a soup and salad lunch, bread, and dessert. If you are in the Twin Cities Metro area and would like to join us, please email me, we would love to have you!

This is one of the projects we will making. It features Stampin Up!'s Designer Series Paper. The Designer Series Paper is on special for the month of November. Purchase 3 packages at regular price ($9.95) and receive a 4th package free!

The ornament uses the Dashing paper and the scallop punch. To make the ornament, punch out 8 scallops, a piece of gold or silver cord long enough to hand on the tree, and some beads are needed. Thread a couple of beads onto the cord first (these will be the beads on top). Fold your first scallop and using adhesive stick the cord to the fold (don't worry as you add more scallops it will hold the cord in!). Add some adhesive one of the folded sides and line up your next scallop. I found it easiest to wait until I had lined it up and stuck it down before I folded it. Otherwise I didn't always make the fold correctly and I ended up with some of my vertical stripes a little off. Keep going until you've attached all 8 scallops. Thread on some additional beads if desired, tie a knot and you're done!

Welcome!

As this is my first official blog post, I thought I would say Welcome and Thank you for stopping by. My name is Jennifer and I'm addicted to stamping and papercrafting. I don't get as much time as I would like to create, but my goal with this blog is to expand my knowledge and skills. Along the way, I hope that you will find it interesting and informative.

A little about me...I'm a wife and mother first and foremost. My husband Mike and I met on a blind date in 1995. We were married in May of 1997. We celebrated our 10th Anniversary this year and it seems like our wedding was just yesterday! In 1998 our beautiful daughter Brittany was born, she will turn 9 in November and is in 3rd grade. She is so much fun and amazes us every day. She makes me laugh with her creativity and imagination. She keeps us pretty busy as she's involved in gymnastics, dance, and Brownie Scouts. Lastly, we have 2 furbabies, Rocky and Ruby. They are both Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (see a picture of them in my "Test" post!). Rocky is 10 1/2 months old and is Tri-Color, he's all puppy! We've had him since February when he was 10 weeks old. After a couple of months we began talking about wanting another. In comes Ruby! She is 7 years old and ruby colored. She is a retired breeding dog and we are her retirement home! She joined us in September. Both are sweet little dogs that just want to love you!

I work full-time for a large financial institution as a Sourcing Consultant in our Enterprise Sourcing & Procurement group. I manage suppliers who we buy goods and services from as well as assist business lines within our company through the Request for Proposal process to select suppliers for their business needs. I've worked for this company for 18 years.

As if that wasn't enough, in 2005 I became an Independent Demonstrator for Stampin' Up!®. I had been introduced to stamping in 2004 by a co-worker and instantly became hooked! I wanted everything! I fell in love with Stampin' Up!'s products and matching cardstock and inks. In my world things need to match. I have just a small group of customers but am trying to grow in my business and my skills. I hope in turn to inspire you to try new things. I will share successes and probably some lessons learned along the way. Join me for the ride!
